Chinese New Year Parade 2005

I went to the Chinese New Year Parade in SF on Saturday. Started the
day with a trip to Blondies for a veggie pizza, and then I went to
Virgin Records and then Chinatown. The street fair in Chinatown had
lots of tents selling the usual stuff. Because of the weather, it
wasn't as crowded as last year, but I had to dodge umbrellas from
pocking my eyes out. After that I went to the Apple store to check out
the iPod Shuttle and watched a lovely presentation on video editing. It
reminded me that I still have to edit a bunch of videos from recent
trips.

I decided to hit Starbucks on my way to the parade. And I also I decided
to watch the parade at Union Square. Last year I waited for it in
Chinatown, and it got too dark by the time the parade got there.

The parade was fun, lots of fireworks, colorful floats, dragons, and kids
wearing different traditional clothes and costumes. The weather wasn't
bad either, we were there for more than two hours and we only saw a
total of five minutes worth of rain. We saw Mayor Gavin Newsom,
Democratic Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and actress Ming-Na from E.R.
and "The Joy Luck Club."
